Registered Democrats in Somerville vote Sunday to elect 63 delegates who will represent the seven wards of the city at May’s Democratic State Convention, said Jack Perenick, chair of the Somerville Democratic Party, in a Thursday email.
Delegates vote this year on nominating and endorsing candidates for statewide offices, including the contested U.S. Senate election between incumbent Ed Markey, challenger U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton and teacher and sportswriter Alex Rikleen. Candidates for statewide office are eligible to be nominated for the Sept. 1 ballot if they get the votes of at least 15 percent of delegates; candidates with support from a majority of the delegates will get the endorsement of the Massachusetts Democratic Party.
Somerville caucus elections are 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Somerville High School, 81 Highland Ave., Central Hill. Information and advance registration for ballots is at SomervilleMassDems.com; voters can also attend Sunday at 11 a.m. to check in for a ballot before the caucus; registration closes at 11:45 a.m.
The 2026 Massachusetts Democratic Party State Convention is May 29-30 at the DCU Center in Worcester.
