$4 This visit started off poorly. Veggie Grill offers a Junior Burger for $8 that had me excited to think a decent burger was out there under our $10 cutoff – after all, the owners of this plant-based chain began with a business called Next Level Burger. But there’s a trick to it: A side is required, and that costs at least $4. Abandoning the burger, I look at those $4 sides themselves, which include herb roasted potatoes and buttery jalapeño corn. Buying one of each, I found the kernels of corn fine, I guess, but that whatever jalapeño was added contributed a tang that counteracts the butter and offers no heat. The skin-on potato chunks, on the other hand, have a pleasant sheen of oil and appreciable speckling of oregano, basil, thyme, paprika and garlic. With each piece of potato roughly the size of a die, they are cooked through and soft.
