A punk rock opera called “Introducing the Tofanas” is being presented at the Center for Arts at the Armory on Thursday. Who are The Tofanas? A “gang of 17th century Roman poisoners” led by San Francisco-based acoustic punkers Heather Snider and Danielle Leone and joined by a drummer and a ukulele player. They’ll be telling the stories of some eccentric, witchy figures, five of whom were hanged for brewing and selling the highly toxic Acqua Tofana potion.
“Introducing the Tofanas,” 7 p.m. Thursday at The Armory, 191 Highland Ave., Spring Hill, Somerville.
Elsewhere, the Idle Hands Collective hosts Idle Fest 3.0 at The Foundry in Cambridge on Saturday. This madcap work features the energies of a dozen artists from a variety of backgrounds – theater, dance, drag, poetry, visual art and more. Together, the creative ensemble built a unique work in the span of a week. Go see the fruits of their labor at the early or late show.
