Cambridge opted to reelect 24th Middlesex District state representative Dave Rogers in the Democratic primary held Tuesday, reflecting his win in the district as a whole. According to unofficial election results, he took 746 of the votes in the city, compared with the 183 given to first-time challenger Nomita Ganguly, an expert on legislative and administrative advocacy for nonprofits.
With 929 ballots cast, that gives 80 percent of the vote to Rogers, with his challenger getting the remaining 20 percent.
The district, which Rogers has held since 2013, includes parts of North Cambridge and Arlington and all of Belmont.
In Arlington, results were similar: Rogers got 2,698 votes (81 percent) to Ganguly’s 641 (19 percent). In Belmont, where Ganguly lives, the incumbent got 3,462 votes (63 percent) to her 2,043 (37 percent).
With no known Republican or third-party candidates named for November’s general election, it’s likely that the primary decides the race.
