Casa Mexico Taqueria Pizzeria
Licensing Commission, 6 p.m. Monday. Welcome the Casa Mexico Taqueria Pizzeria to 362 Mystic Ave., Ten Hills, adding a whole second cuisine where the former Romanzza Pizzeria offered just the one. If it gets licensing, the taqueria pizzeria near Foss Park could seat up to 30 until 11 p.m. daily. The Wildgrain bakery and coffee shop adds hours of operation, proposing to be open until 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at 29 Properzi Way, Ward 2, Somerville. It is only one of several city businesses asking recently to stay open longer, as with the Dunkin’ on the Planning Board agenda Thursday. The commission also accepts a communication for the Rosebud in Davis Square, where the operators at Bindaas Concepts closed without warning in mid-May and told commissioners July 21 that they were negotiating to buy the diner’s property at 381 Summer St. If successful, “in two to three weeks” the Rosebud would reopen to customers. Bid for a Davis Square council
City Council Legislative Matters Committee, 6 p.m. Tuesday. This committee run by city councilor J.T. Scott may vote on whether to recommend formal recognition of the Davis Square Neighborhood Council after a meeting last week showed some contention – with even some board members saying the organization has stuff to figure out first. The committee also considers changes to laws about regulating anticoagulant rodenticides, which move up the food chain to hawks, owls, eagles and other wildlife, and to allow stores to sell pets only from a shelter, animal rescue organization or public animal control agency. Davis Square plan survey, Part I
Open house, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The city is developing a cohesive plan for growth, public space, transportation and accessibility and such things as infrastructure, housing, economic vitality and climate resilience for Davis Square. Community feedback from community members, workers and visitors through this survey can help shape what happens. Project staff will be on hand for questions and guidance at the Somerville Theatre’s Crystal Ballroom, 55 Davis Square.
Look at school district finances
School Committee Finance and Facilities Subcommittee, 6 p.m. Wednesday. This group led by Andre Green and Leiran Biton gives a recap of the 2026 fiscal year, sets finance goals for the 2027 fiscal year and does a three-year forecast overview. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.

Dunkin’ hours; housing plans
Planning Board, 6 p.m. Thursday. Continued from a meeting Sept. 3, the Dunkin’ Donuts at 222 Broadway, Winter Hill, proposes 24-hour operation on its major thoroughfare fronting on a largely residential area across from Foss Park. The store closes at 8 nightly. The request comes from a new owner who is looking forward to adding a Jimmy John’s sandwich operation within the same building. Several city businesses are asking recently to stay open longer, but this one is resisted by neighbors who complained at a community meeting of rats, noise, light and feeling unsafe because “it is a place where people hang out and gather” that, when open 24 hours, will be “a magnet for people coming home from clubs and entertainment venues late at night … the place is going to be dead from 8 to 1. There won’t be a single person in there, and then it’s going to be packed with drunken young men.” (There were also commenters who felt the expanded hours and service would be a welcome amenity.)
Another issue that is back: 6 Wheatland St., also near Foss Park but in the Ten Hills neighborhood, where more than a year ago a landowner said they wanted to build five units of housing by tearing down the current two-unit structure on land behind a convenience store and the Dumpling Garden restaurant.
A four-story building with 18 homes – at least three would be deeded as affordable – and ground-floor commercial space is proposed to replace the three-story building at 8 Medford St., near Boynton Yards in Ward 2. There are board questions about the developer’s expectations of offering no parking. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
Squires Bridge replacement
Pedestrian and Transit Advisory Committee, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. More review of designs for replacing the state’s deteriorating Squires Bridge along McGrath Highway between Poplar and Medford streets in Somerville and Third Street in Cambridge, where it’s called the O’Brien Highway. There could be improvements for people walking, biking and taking transit, better connections between neighborhoods (especially Brickbottom) and improved access for people with disabilities. The bridge goes over rail tracks (for the MBTA commuter rail Fitchburg line; Union branch of green line trolleys; and Grand Junction rail line).
