$5.95 It’s hard to make a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich stand out, but it helps to have been running a griddle for 72 years, and Angelina’s opened in 1954. Its original specialty in sandwiches grew to include pizzas and other menu items, but this family-owned neighborhood joint remains the only place to go for jumbo subs (feed a family for $33) while becoming the only place you can get a legit breakfast pizza (three kinds, each $23.50), and in time for breakfast. Angelina’s remains top-notch also at the foods that aren’t unique to the area: The sandwich, on an English muffin, was the exact item you envision coming off the grill – filling, piping hot, every ingredient cohering, wrapped neatly in aluminum foil, paper and finally bagged to retain that heat as you bring the meal back to your worksite or office (or to the counter looking out onto Holland Street).
