Patriots’ Day observance 

Department of Veterans Services, 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday. A reenactment by the National Lancers of William Dawes’ historic horseback ride from Boston to Cambridge and Lexington alerting the colonists of the British threat of 1775, with mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and vice mayor Burhan Azeem giving remarks along with Marc McGovern, chair of the Human Services and Veterans Committee, and executive director Cynthia Shelton Harris. Free and in-person at Cambridge Common, near Harvard Square.

New election commissioner

Election Commission, 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The commission welcomes board member Sara Rivera, who was appointed Monday by the city manager and replaces Tom Stohlman, and runs through its own elections for leadership in the coming year. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
