A Cambridge resident was charged Wednesday with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence and related allegations for a fatal crash on Oct. 16.

The charges against Sosa Samura, 41, were made public by Middlesex district attorney Marian Ryan and the acting commissioner of Cambridge police, Pauline Wells, after an arraignment Tuesday. A dangerousness hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

According to the officials, Samura was driving on Main Street shortly after 11:38 p.m. Oct. 16 when she backed her vehicle into another vehicle, causing damage. The other driver followed Samura, who fled down several streets, driving over the speed limit.  “She finally reached Market Street, where she traveled the wrong way down the one-way street,” the officials said.

At the intersection with Columbia Street in The Port neighborhood near Kendall Square, Samura hit a car driven by Susana Casillo, 51, of Cambridge, officials said. First responders arrived and took Casillo to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

When police arrived on the scene, Samura had glassy eyes and slurred speech and they detected “an odor of alcohol,” the officials said. Samura was arrested and taken to an area hospital.

Additional charges against Samura include driving under the influence, second offense; operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury; leaving the scene of property damage; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; assault with a dangerous weapon; reckless operation of a motor vehicle; speeding; and improper operation of a motor vehicle.
