Fancy a dose of some worthy community theater?
Theatre@First, a local Somerville theater company, is closing out its run of “Festival@First 14: Just Deserts,” a collection of new, original plays centering around the themes of “justice, fairness and deservedness.”
This abundant celebration of nine short works, selected from more than 110 submissions, is directed by Jason Rhode and asks us if anyone ultimately “gets what they deserve,” whether that be a reward, retribution or redemption.
The festival started last weekend and continues its run at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 4 p.m. Saturday. Expect to see plays that dabble with themes of crime solving, the end of life and entitlement in productions such as “The Kentworth Case” by Lauren Kimball and Jamie-Taker Walsh, “Remember Me” by Christopher Lockheardt and “Odysseus’ Law of Proportional Misery” by Christian Krenek.
