$9.75 each There’s so much Mexican here that it’s been easy to miss Achilito’s, a Massachusetts family-owned chain that chose Cambridge for its third location in 2024. Damn the competition, right? But the Pimentels know what they’re doing, with a menu that feels as broad as Felipe’s, Anna’s, El Jefe’s or Tenoch, priced somewhere in the middle and living up to its billing as “fresh and spicy.” The burritos falling beneath our $10 limit are meatless; I considered yucca or peppers and onion and got very curious about the mango spinach, but ultimately opted for a plantain with everything – mango salsa, guacamole, cilantro rice, black beans, cheese and chipotle mayo (which I assume gets credit for much of the “spicy”). It’s a substantial small burrito that manages the trick of melding flavors perfectly while allowing each to stand out. I have no regrets and surprisingly, have added Achilito’s to the rotation.
