Memorial Day ceremony
Veterans Services Department, 11 a.m. Monday. The city honors U.S. veterans who lost their lives in war with a remembrance ceremony at Veterans Cemetery, 1332 Broadway, West Somerville. The ceremony is watchable afterward on GovTV and the city’s YouTube channel.
Cash now to skip interest debt
City Council Finance Committee, 6 p.m. Tuesday. This committee run by city councilor Ben Wheeler addresses a slew of items, a few of are due to get their significant dollar amounts paid off in available cash instead of the expected borrowing, saving money in the long run because there are no interest payments to meet. Cash for municipal building constructing and stabilization work costing $999,000 will save $1.4 million in debt service; street reconstruction costing $2.4 million and $3.9 million will save $3 million and $5 million, respectively, staff estimates. Broadway Magoun project, Part I
Reconstruction project outreach pop-up, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Give feedback in person on sidewalk reconstruction and road repaving on Broadway between Winchester and Central streets, which comes with a redesign for safety, accessibility, sustainability and plant life, and comfort. Water and sewer rate proposal
Public hearing, 6 p.m. Thursday. The city seeks no changes to existing base charges for water and sewer utilities but up to 20 percent increases in charges for how much use water and sewer lines get.
