$8 The quest for a great spicy chicken sandwich goes on, having not ended at the bb.q franchise opening in Davis Square this past month. That inspired a chance at redemption from 2023, when I ate at the branch in Cambridge’s Central Square and it took a long time to serve me a “weird, squeaky mass of unfrozen meat,” which I nibbled around the edges to avoid an unsettling middle. Same here: Something about the center of the generous hunk of hot, breaded chicken, which is complemented with spicy mayo on a roll, is off. It took the promised 12 minutes to deliver – shorter than in Central – and in the abstract this is a good, juicy treat. I just can’t shake the texture problem, though it’s unique to this sandwich. I’m still excited about the Korean fried chicken bites that are bb.q’s reason for being.
