We’ve found two very different ways to shake up the end of summer theatrically and turn toward fall.

Sept. 4: “The Summer Throwdown” (Multicultural Arts Center, Cambridge)

The Multicultural Arts Center in Kendall Square presents “The Summer Throwdown,” starting at 6 p.m. Join festivities with host Megatron, a dynamic Boston street dance pioneer, while enjoying music from DJs, live performances and, yes, a dance battle. The fun takes place outdoors at Centanni Park, and it’s free and open to the public.

Sept. 10: “Eleanor” (Central Square Theater, Cambridge)

Central Square Theater marks the start of its season with “Eleanor,” opening Sept 10. Directed by Bryn Boice, the show stars Paula Plum as Eleanor Roosevelt. This play, written by Mark St. German, explores the first lady’s relationship with FDR, her activism and her contributions to human rights. The production runs through Oct. 4.
