Free vaccine clinics open across Cambridge and Somerville in October, offering Covid and flu vaccines for residents with or without insurance. Some clinics offer RSV vaccines as well.
Everyone 6 months and older is eligible for vaccines in Massachusetts, though those considered high risk, including immunocompromised people and people over 65, are specifically recommended for a jab.
Somerville has 20 clinics running through spring (the first for all ages is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15, at the Office of Immigrant Affairs, 42 Cross St., East Somerville) and Cambridge has five appointment dates through October (the first is Oct. 14 at the Citywide Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square).

Wearing a respirator/mask in crowds and indoors and self-testing are additional proven tactics to bulk up viral defenses and protect those around you.
