Police are massed around 808 Memorial Drive in Cambridge for a 1:33 p.m. shooting with two victims, according to scanner reports. Police are diverting traffic but saying there is no ongoing danger to the public.

The shooting happened near River Street and the Rivermark Apartments, where gunfire went into at least one home, according to scanner reports. A meal delivery truck was also hit, but the person living in that apartment told police “the shooter shot at him.”

Ambulances were sent quickly afterward – within 20 minutes, one victim had been taken to a hospital, as another reportedly in critical condition awaited loading. The second victim was taken to a hospital at around 1:55 p.m. One was said to go Massachusetts General and the other to Beth Israel. Police also got a report from CHA Cambridge Hospital of a man who had been grazed by a bullet and drove himself to be treated.

All units were told to respond to the shooting and a perimeter formed as State Police reportedly returned fire, according to audio on the police scanner. Early reports from the scene of a violent incident or disaster are often garbled or turn out later to be wrong.

Cambridge police said they got 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area.

Harvard University police told its community that a suspect was in custody. A video shared from TikTok seems to show a Cambridge shooter giving up.
