A Cambridge resident is one of two suspects taken into custody Wednesday in connection with a kidnapping and related violent offenses, Haverhill police said.

Ali Cali, 22, was arrested in Cambridge. Andy Lahens, also 22, of Everett, was arrested in Canton, police said.

“This investigation involved significant investigative work over an extended period” and is ongoing, police said, citing the charges against each as kidnapping, armed assault to rob, armed and masked robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon. “Additional details will be released when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise the investigation or any pending court proceedings,” officials said.

The investigation and arrests included Cambridge and Canton police, the state police Special Tactical Operations Team and Essex County District Attorney’s Office, officials said.
